DotTaiko was launched to the public on 7th December. During the first 10 days of its journey, the biggest grievance we have heard from the community is the difficulty in acquiring testnet Ethereum to mint DotTaiko domains.

So we did what we do best. Engineer a brand new Taiko faucet to help the entire Taiko community? Piece of cake! And thus, the dottaiko faucet was born. Here’s all you need to know about it:

Utility:

With the Taiko faucet, users can now easily claim 0.002 Testnet Ethereum on the Taiko Jolnir blockchain to test out various dapps on the Taiko ecosystem. Additionally, the smart wallet functionality required some testnet ETH tokens to be in the wallet. We have solved that issue by providing everyone with free Ethereum.

One user can only claim 0.002 ETH every 24 hours. So the possibilities of attack by someone with too much free time are also minimized!

What is a blockchain faucet? A faucet is a blockchain infrastructure app that provides you with cryptocurrencies. No this isn’t free money. Faucets are (generally) made for testnet tokens and coins.

The Taiko faucet The DotTaiko faucet is similar. Here’s how you operate the faucet:

On the faucet page, you will be asked to make a simple tweet announcing your intent to use the DotTaiko faucet. Make the simple tweet and go back to the faucet page on DotTaiko.

Your “Claim” button is ready. Click on it and wait a bit. “Free” money takes a bit of time to process! You can only claim your free 0.002 Testnet ETH once every 24 hours.

Now that you have the ETH necessary to use the smart wallet functions AND make a domain purchase, what next? What else other than purchasing a domain! Go back to the homepage and mint any domain of your liking. Remember to go back to DotTaiko and mint your domain!
